Just in time for Christmas, the developers of MindMeister announced the availability of version 3.1 of its popular online mind mapping application; the biggest enhancement in this release is the ability to add connector lines between ideas.

Just in time for Christmas, the developers of MindMeister announced the availability of version 3.1 of its popular online mind mapping application; the biggest enhancement in this release is the ability to add connector lines between ideas. These relationship lines are displayed as green arrows, and are added using a new “connect” button or the keyboard shortcut “C.”

Other enhancements to MindMeister v3.1 include:

The ability to flag and “nudge” inactive collaborators. In other words, if you have shared a map with several people and one or more of them have not visited it, they are marked with a coffee cup icon. Clicking on it automatically sends a reminder e-mail to those lazy bums.

Alphabetic sorting of sub-topics is now available.

You can now select which maps you want to take offline, using MindMeister’s Google Gears capability. In the past, if you decided to go offline, you had to wait while all of the maps you’ve created were sync’d to your computer. Now, you can select which maps you want to take offline, which makes the whole process go much faster.

You can remove a person from your map collaborators or viewers if you want.

In addition, earlier in December, MindMeister announced a software as a service integrations with Box.net, a popular online file management service, and net-files, a German online storage and file management provider. Users of these browser-based services can now create and share mind maps from within their file management accounts. Both of these integrations are made possible by MindMeister’s Embed API, which allows anyone to write applications that interact with MindMeister.
