A lot of bloggers are dispensing advice about how to create content that plays well on Pinterest, a fast-growing visual content sharing social media site. But how do you know what boards to create to begin with?
Ekaterina Walter and Jessica Gioglio tackle this important question in their excellent new book, The Power of Visual Storytelling: How to Use Visuals, Videos and Social Media to Market Your Brand. Their advice is very straightforward: Think of Pinterest as a visual lens for reinterpreting your brand in a variety of creative ways:
“Creativity is at the center of Pinterest’s design. Choosing themes for your boards can open your company up to a whole world of ideas for visually interpreting its brand… Pinterest is fun, slick, imaginative, artistic and social. If your brand can be all these things, then you could find new audiences for your brand.”
To help readers understand what’s possible with Pinterest boards, the authors share a list of over 50 ideas and topics. I have converted them into a mind map, which you can download in a PDF or Mindjet (MindManager) format below (most mind mapping programs can open its .mmap file type).
