At the recent Biggerplate mind mapping conference in Berlin, web-based mind mapping innovator MindMeister provided attendees with a tantalizing glimpse at the future of its popular application.
In this 24-minute video, Rafaela Bradner covers a number of intriguing capabilities that MindMeister is currently experimenting with, including:
- Additional enhancements to its Google Glass integration (link to my post)
- Using the soon to be introduced Apple Watch for voice integration with MindMeister
- Integration with touch and multi-touch screens
Hands-free input technology, similar to the Microsoft’s Kinect - Performing handwriting recognition on a mind map drawn on a whiteboard, so it can be automatically imported into MindMeister
Enabling MindMeister users to comment, like and vote on individual map topics – a new, deeper level of mind map collaboration - A new WunderKind application, currently in the experimental stage of development, that can automatically extract keywords from map topics and suggest related information (this sounds very similar to Evernote Context, which automatically looks for other information and content, and displays it at the bottom of the note you’re currently editing).
- MeisterTask, a new app now in its alpha stage of development, that will automatically extract all tasks from a MindMeister map with a single click and insert them into a social collaboration tool that will enable team members to assign tasks, track their progress and share additional files and resources with each other. This app is currently in private beta testing; MindMeister users can sign up to be part of the evaluation process at MeisterTask.com.You can get all of the details by watching the YouTube video here:
These are exciting times to be a developer of cloud-based software, thanks to the growing number of APIs that enable developers to tie together disparate tools and data sources. Clearly, MindMeister has decided to fully embrace the possibilities that these developments enable!
