MindMeister has just announced a new development that will help to close the gap between web-based and desktop-based mind mapping tools. MindMeister Offline enables users to work with their maps any time, even without an Internet connection. Based on Google Gears, a technology that enables hybrid online/offline applications, MindMeister Offline enables you to take the maps you have created in MindMeister’s web environment offline. When you come back online, your changes and any new maps are be synched back into your online account.
I haven’t had a chance to play around with my maps in offline mode yet (only users with premium accounts can do so), but I hope to have that resolved shortly, and will let you know what I think of this brave new technology.
