The developer of the Comapping web-based mind mapping application has recently launched a number of significant improvements to its online tool. Here’s what’s new:
Collaboration improvements: The map sharing dialogue box has been improved to make it easier for users to share their maps. You can quickly designate usage rights (edit/view only/no access) for a whole list of people. Also, you can now e-mail invitations to everyone in your list, and reminders to people who have not opened your map. In addition, you can tell Comapping to send you a copy of your invitation, so you have copy for your files. You can configure Comapping to automatically notify you via e-mail if any of your collaborators have made changes to the map. And the application now flags topics with "change markers" that show who added each topic. These markers can easily be toggled on and off.
Intelligent printing: Comapping now offers numerous options for customizing your printed maps. You can print the entire map, the current page only or the currently selected topic and all of its subtopics. You can also create customized headings and footnotes, which will print out with your map.
Keyboard shortcuts: Comapping now supports an impressive list of hot keys or keyboard shortcuts, which will help users to work more efficiently with it.
Template maps: Based upon extensive user feedback, the developers of Comapping have created a set of templates that you can use as starting points for your maps. These templates include:
- Brainstorming session
- Note taking
- Sales funnel
- Project management
- Qualitative interview
This looks like a nice selection of business-oriented map templates! Why didn’t anyone else think of providing templates before now? Very cool!
Publish your maps: Comapping enables you to share maps with anyone, even people without an online account for this web-based application. The latest update adds several enhancements, including a map zoom feature (which helps to ensure that others can actually READ the contents of your map – good idea!).
