It’s the big one: The mega-map of over 80 of the best mind mapping resources

Mar 5th, 2010 | By Chuck Frey | Category: Resources

mind mapping resourcesOne of my objectives for the Mind Mapping Software Blog is to help to grow this fascinating software niche, because I believe it has so much potential as a business tool that is still waiting to be tapped.

Accordingly, I have just produced another helpful mind map that gathers over 80 of the best mind mapping resources into a single visual map that you can use as a jumping-off point for exploration. To the best of my knowledge, this is the largest collection of links gathered in a visual form anywhere on the web. To access this mind mapping resource map, please click here or on the image to the right. I hope you find it useful!

This mind mapping resources map includes the following categories:

  • Mind mapping blogs
  • Key mind mappers on Twitter
  • Twitter feeds you should follow to keep up with this innovative software niche
  • Notable books on mind mapping
  • Mind mapping resource pages
  • Mind map galleries
  • Discussion forums
  • Mind mapping experts

To explore these valuable resources, simply click on the name of the website in the map; to return to the map, simply use your browser’s “back button.”

In addition, this clickable mind map contains links to the other two resource maps I previously produced:

  • A clickable mind map of all software vendors, for all computing platforms
  • A map of mind mapping applications

Combined, there are links to over 160 mind mapping resources here. If I’m missing anything, please let me know in the comments area below and I’ll add it to a future edition of this map!

UPDATE: You can now download this popular resource in MindManager’s .MMAP file format. Just right click on this link and select “save as…”

  1. Chuck

Thanks for the mentions in your map. Good to see you getting several mention in the “Mind Mapping for Business Book”.

Must publish my MindManager web export template which makes maps such as yours visible to Google and the other search engines.

    Best regards, Andrew

  2. Hi Chuck,

Impressive overview – thank you very much!

I would like to add http://www.hypershifters.com – a young organization that will grow fast this year!

    Best regards, Hans

  3. Thanks Chuck, great compilation.

Here’s another mind map (web version in Pearltrees) of mind mapping resources: http://www.pearltrees.com/conciselearning/1424071/.

  4. Hi! Thanks for this tremendous resource.

This inspired me. I am thinking about the need for a companion map, in which mindmapping would be a branch. The map would capture Visual Learning, Communication & Organization Methods & Tools or something along those lines. Mindmapping would be an obvious branch. Others would be Visual Thinking (Vizthink (vizthink.com) and Nancy Duarte’s Slideology work (http://blog.duarte.com) comes to mind); Visual Presentations (PechaKucha, Nancy Duarte again, and others who are radicalizing the use of PowerPoint and breathing life into a tool that can bore to death, like Cliff Atkinson (www.beyondbullets.com)); and Graphic Facilitation (David Sibbett and The Grove Consultants (grove.com) come to mind as well as the Center for Graphic Facilitation (http://graphicfacilitation.blogs.com)). [Note: Grove folks sometimes map too, so you might consider adding them here.]

  7. Great resource Chuck, one small problem…
You left your site out :)

  8. Great list, I just played around with Comapping and its link with context organizer, really cool. Have a look at the blog below and let me know what you think.

  9. Hi Chuck,
What software did you use to create this extremely resourceful mindmap?

    Thanks!

    Mark

  10. Mark, I used MindManager to create it.

BTW, someone e-mailed me a few days ago and asked why this incredible list was only posted as an HTML page. They wanted it in a MindManager native MMAP file format, too. I’ll try to post that to this blog within the next few days!

  12. Hopefully they asked you nicely!

In any format you post this resource is appreciated.

No affiliate links either — I have no objections to you
putting affiliate links in your posts, or mindmaps.

  13. Yes, the person did ask nicely (and BTW, she is a user of mind mapping software, not a representative of Mindjet). This mind map of mind mapping resources does not contain any affiliate links. All links go directly to the main page of the developer’s website. Thanks for your interest!
